Below is a compiled list of suggestions for junior high communication
art classes. I completely copied the last not I received as I thought
it was neat one of our own had a book I could possibly use. Thanks for
all your help!

Paula

Giver
Pigman
Nothing but the truth
White Fang
Call of the Wild
Day No Pigs Would Die
I Have Lived a Thousand Years
Diary of Anne Frank, unabridged
Tom Sawyer
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry--or newly published _the Land_
Treasure Island
Hobbit
various greek myths
Kon-Tiki
The Master Puppeteer
Fifth Chinese Daughter
Red Scarf Girl
Hinton's books
Westing game
City of the Beasts
Shadow Club

For 7th or 8th, I love The Pigman and The Giver. Specifically for
8th, I think Whirligig and Tangerine are both spectacular, if a bit
gritty.

Also, here's a page that lists what one school uses:

Finally, I'm partial to a novel I've written called _Drums, Girls &
Dangerous Pie_, which is a nominee for this year's ALA BBYA awards and a
BookSense Pick for Teens. You can check it out on my web site below.
