[LM_NET] Bixby, Oklahoma

I stopped by a bookstore this afternoon and saw a new YA book entitled:

Midnighters:  The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfeld

It's number one in a series of new books that looked to be like something my
students would pick up and read, so I opened the front cover and on the dust
jacket inside  it said:

"Nobody is safe in the secret hour....strange things happen at midnight in
the town of Bixby, Oklahoma....."  BIXBY, OKLAHOMA!!???

I had to buy it!!  (As an Okie transplanted in Texas, I desperately wanted
to know WHAT happens in Bixby that I  missed out on during my first 39 years
there!!)

SO...those Oklahoma Librarians out there....grab this one and have fun with
the setting and the story!  I think it will be a good read----it's set at
Bixby High School....AND it's Science Fiction!!  (Oklahoma AND Science
Fiction???---that's almost an oxymoron, isn't it? (I hope you OKie Libs know
I'm kidding...I love you guys!  You're one of the smartest groups of
librarians in the world!! <grin>)

...now... the author,...he was born in Texas and now alternates his summers
between New York City and Sydney, Australia....

....yep, those experiences will definitely provide you with some insights
into the "night life of Bixby, Oklahoma!" <grin>

Had to share....if this is good maybe it will make the Sequoyah List! (or
not!)
