Here are some online resources related to content area reading, which I compiled and annotated for my professional organization's newsletter. Adolescent Literacy in the Content Areas (Knowledge Loom Spotlight) http://knowledgeloom.org/adlit/index.jsp This issue of the online newsletter from the Educational Alliance at Brown University contains research, stories, and strategies related to four key components of an effective adolescent literacy initiative: motivating students to read; use of research-based strategies; support of reading and writing across the curriculum; and organizational support. A separate (136-page) document, Adolescent Literacy Resources, providing an in-depth discussion of research, articles and books on adolescent literacy, can be downloaded from this site.
