I've been having nightmares - appropriate because today is Halloween. My school has 2400 K-8 students and sometime this spring the 1300 K-5 students will be moving into the brand new school next door. Since Follett will export student data with records intact I'm hoping I can check out 5 books per student two weeks prior to the move. I will allow them to select titles they think should go with them, with some guidance from me. (Spring weeding, anyone?) Teachers may also take on this responsibility with materials only they can borrow. We'll send home a letter to the parents first asking if they would be willing to help with the responsibility of moving the books and only do this with students who return a signed letter. Am I crazy? Can this work? Has anyone ever had to do this before? How did you split and move the collection? E-mail responses to me and I'll post a hit. Thanks in advance.
