the internet.

Library of Congress
http://www.loc.gov 
Contains the wonderful American Memory Collection, Thomas Legislation, and 
America's Playground among others.

Librarians' Index to the Internet
http://lii.org/ 
A searchable, annotated subject directory of more than 14,000 Internet resources 
selected and evaluated by librarians to provide relevant, high quality information.

Internet Public Library
www.ipl.org 
IPL provides a number of online library services, including a searchable subject 
directory of Internet links that have been librarian-reviewed; online reference 
titles; online-viewable books, magazines and newspapers, and tools for Internet 
searches.

Infomine
http://infomine.ucr.edu 
A virtual library of Internet resources, including not only websites but databases, 
electronic journals, mailing lists, and many other types of information, all 
reviewed by university librarians.  The resources are primarily aimed at 
college-level students, but high school students should still be able to find 
useful information.

Bartleby's Reference
http://www.bartleby.com/reference/ 
A selection of online reference books. The list includes dictionaries, 
encyclopedias, and a number of subject-specific works, including English Usage and 
Anatomy, among many others.

Google Scholar
http://scholar.google.com/ 
A Google search site that lets you search through published scholarly literature 
from a wide variety of areas of research, including papers, theses, books, 
abstracts and technical reports.

Blue Web'n Blue

Web'n is an online library of 1952 outstanding Internet sites categorized by 
subject, grade level, and format (tools, references, lessons, hotlists, resources, 
tutorials, activities, projects
