Try "Crazy Lady" by Jane L. Conly
(interesting tidbit: this book was almost challenged by a parent in our
district this year, but the challenge was never officially filed)

Subject: ALL: Mental Illness portrayed in FICTION

Our psychology classes are studying the portrayal of the mentally ill in
fiction books and other media. Can you recommend FICTION books at ANY
level for this project? The students will be allowed to read anything
from picture books on up through adult. It will be their choice. The
portrayal can be either positive or negative. It is a very interesting
project. Here is what the students will be required to do:

1. Choose a psychological disorder.
2. Create a list of fiction books and movies that portray the
disorder. The books can be ANY level, from elementary through adult.
They can search for the books on our catalog - or anyone else's catalog
+ via any kind of online sites.
3. Choose ONE of the books to read, or watch one of the movies.(guess
which will be the most popular thing to do?)
4. Research factual information about the disorder and compare how the
disorder is treated in fiction vs. non-fiction.

I am hoping that not everyone will rent videos from Blockbuster. So -
I plan to have a wide variety of books available. They are allowed to
read children's fiction - even picture books. So, hopefully if we have
lots of choices at all levels, more of them will decide to read a book.
