From one of my recent faculty newsletters: For your classroom computers you can choose one of the filters Google provides under "preferences" just to the right of the search box, making the less savory less likely. . ...many of the images on Google are under strict copyright protection, meaning you should ask for permission before using them, even in an educational setting. Some images require a license to copy. The creator/owner of an image can set the rules about who can use it and how. Or you might choose Pics4Learning, (http://www.pics4learning.com/) a "copyright-friendly" site of photographic images specifically chosen for student and teacher use. You can browse by topic or do a simple or advanced search. The site even has lesson plans for using images in a project. Each image is offered with image size, name of photographer, name of photo, location AND a bibliographic citation in the correct format. Maureen S.
