I have been using lots of picture books in staff development presentations
this past year. The ones most teachers and librarians seemed to favor are:

A FROG IN MY THROAT by Loreen Leedy
PUNCTUATION TAKES A VACATION by Robin Pulver
A DROP OF BLOOD by Paul Showers
HAMLET retold by Bruce Coville
ROMEO AND JULIET by Michael Rosen and Jane Ray
WILD ABOUT BOOKS by Judy Sierra

Subject: TAR: Picture books for older readers

My fifth grade teachers have been inspired by a couple of great inservices
(yes, they really do exist! Mary Bigler from Eastern Michigan University
is soooooo funny!) to use more picture books with their students. I have
identified several that will be great for them to use, but I want your
opinions. I checked the archives, and the most recent hit on this is three
years old. There have been a lot of great books published since then so I
would like to update the list.

Please send me your favorite titles to use with older readers, and I will
post a hit. Thanks!
