Activity Five - ABC Cards

This activity provides review and practice in letter recogniton and 
alphabetical ordering skills. Students are given a card, and asked to 
arrange themselves in order, or to locate the books that match their card.

Activity Six - Book Words Skill Sheet

This activity provides review in book terms word recognition skills.

Activity Seven - Book Title Game

This activity encourages review and recall of the books read during the 
year. A picture of the book or a main character is displayed, and students 
participate in a contest to see how many of the books they can name.

Grade 2

Activity One - Everything You Need to Know

This is an introductory library session, in which library behavior, check 
out procedures, book care and program information are reviewed. Anything new 
for the year is introduced and explained at this time.

Activity Two - Snowball Filing /Fiction

This is a skills activity that provides a review of alphabetical order and 
practice in alphabetizing of model book spines.

Activity Three - Snowball Filing/Biography

This is a skills activity that provides a review of alphabetizing and 
practice in alphabetizing of model book spines for students.

Activity Four - Stump the Class

This is an exercise in determining whether a book is fiction or non-fiction 
by title and brief description.

Activity Five - Book Title Game

This activity encourages review and recall of the books read during the 
year. A picture of the book cover or a main character is displayed, and 
students participate in a contest to see how many of the books they can 
name.

Grade 5

Activity 1 - Everything You Need to Know

This is an introductory library session, in which library behavior, check

Activity 2 - Booktalk the Caudills

This session introduces the Caudill nominated books for the year, 
acquainting students with titles on the list, and encouraging students to 
begin reading those titles.

Activity 3 - Caudill Read-Aloud

Read one of the Caudill nominated titles aloud to classes in the LC.

Activity 4 - Mini-Battle

This session serves as an introduction and motivational session to prepare 
students for the Battle of the Books. This is a mini-battle, using titles 
that are not on the Battle List for this year, but are well known titles.

Activity 5 - Top of the Page Alpha

This is a skills activity that reinforces book location skills for fiction 
and biography books.

Activity 6 - Top of the Page Dewey

This is a skills activity that provides practice and review in book location 
skills for nonfiction books.

Activity 7 - Non-Fiction Puzzles

This is a skills activity that helps students to conceptualize the purpose 
and function of Dewey Numbers, by demonstrating that each Dewey number has 
meaning, and that the meaning relates to the subjects of the books in the 
Dewey category.

Activity 8 - Battle of the Books

This is a trivia contest based on books read by students. Classes are 
divided into teams and each team is asked a series of trivia questions, 
based on book plots. Given a brief description, teams are asked to identify
