[LM_NET] Stumper

A friend is trying to track down a book she remembers from the past- I am hoping it 
might ring a bell with someone! Thank you!:

The subject is the only thing I remember about the books that I read to my nephews 
in the mid to late '50s.  They were a series of books telling stories about the 
travails of a family in the west/midwest? and always told by the father of the 
family as he related the way things worked out.  Always there were several things 
he said at the end of the story encapsulating the success.  Shot grey wolf..... and 
there were three or four other dicta.  If you could find me any of the books,  
without author,  title etc.  I would be so grateful.  Thanks.
