Just when you begin to get discouraged...

This morning I saw one student for the first time this school year and his 
face lit up when he spotted me. As I got closer, I said, "Good morning!" He 
replied, "Good morning! I can't wait until library starts!"

And one family (whose mom has a favorite saying when she pulls off something 
successfully: "Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while!") gave 
me today's giggle. The mom found a library book over the summer that she 
didn't know they had (and I didn't either - apparently it "walked" out one 
day instead of being checked out...) and she was so embarrassed that she 
decided I needed a laugh with it when she returned it. It came today in a 
gift bag along with a small stuffed squirrel which had an acorn hot-glued to 
one paw and a blindfold placed over its eyes. The accompanying card 
suggested making him the library mascot.
