Thought I'd share the following description of librarians from the book, "Who Put the Rainbow in the Wizard of Oz; Yip Harburg, Lyricist" by Harold Meyerson and Ernie Harburg. This book is about Yip Harburg, the lyricist who wrote the words to the songs in the movie, "Wizard of Oz", as well as other Broadway and Hollywood musicals. He is quoted, in reference to his early life, ca 1912, "There was no place to study at home, a cold-water apartment with no steam heat; the stove was in the kitchen and it was always cold. So my study was the library on Tenth Street, right opposite Tompkins Square Park . . . It was a fine, warm, clean place, and there were lovely librarians, with blonde hair and blue eyes and elegant accents. The attraction was magnetic. And they put me on to some great books." A nice change from what the past and present media usually describes us as. Happy Holidays. --------------------------------------------------------- Kathy Graves, IMC Director/Librarian Retired, working parttime PH: 530-842-8427 Siskiyou County Office of Education FX: 530-842-8436 609 South Gold St. Yreka, CA 96097 WEB: http://sisnet.ssku.k12.ca.us/~imcftp --------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
