Dear all, I am a second year school librarian, trying to hammer out better lesson plans. I am working on a lesson to teach the parts of a story-the beginning, the middle, and the end. I supposed that I would first define what these terms mean for the kids, read a story, diagram its three parts, and pass out some kind of worksheet where they can write the beginning, middle, and end of another read-aloud. This is for K-2 grades. In addition, how can I teach the concept of plot to first and second graders? Again, I thought I would define it for the kids, read a story, and have them draw an event from the story with a one-sentence description. In addition, what can I use as my motivation for these lessons? Thanks for your advice, in advance.
