I hope that doesn't confuse anyone. My intention this morning was to get people to talk about a set of often competing interests that many of us share--the interest we have in serving the wishes of our school community and the interest we have in using media in an ethically correct way. Many of us, it seems, are caught in a dilemma wherein if we push too hard in our efforts to enforce copyright adherence we risk severing the professional connections that are our lifeblood. It can be a shaky tightrope. The good news is that, based upon your responses, many of you are lucky enough to work in school systems where concrete steps have actually been taken to insure responsible media use. About half of those who wrote me said that licensing and/or enforcement measures were in place and working to some degree. That's pretty good. It's been a fun discussion and, as always, thanks for taking time to read, think, and write.
