I've also had student library teachers in the past where the University
totally ignored the student and never checked with me once... Oh, for the
good old days when we went out for a complete semester doing our library
practicum. My own experience was probably the best (could have been the
worst) experience... One week after I arrived at the high school, the
librarian became sick and never returned the rest of the semester -- so I
was totally alone... That probably wouldn't happen today - the teachers'
union and the college would have a fit.

When I was placing student librarians (when I taught a SUNY/Geneseo) we made
sure that the school didn't use the student as a substitute librarian.
