First, I would like to thank those who responded to my request for
questions to include in my reference quiz. These were not for the
students to answer but to determine which reference source they would
look in to find the answer.

My request was sent in late and I did not have any responses before I
started but I will tell you what I ended up doing. To start the class I
did a quick review of reference sources and then divided the class into
teams by tables. The head person at the table was designated team leader
and was given a set of cards. The cards had to remain upside down on the
table until I said go and then each team leader would read the question
on the card and then the team would decided which reference sources
could be used to find the answer. The "walker" would them walk the card
to the center table and place it in the folder labeled with that
resource name. The team who completed their cards first received 5
points, 2nd place 3 points and third place 1 point. I then gathered the
folders and then read the questions out loud and had the class decide if
they were in the correct folder. The cards were color coded by team and
each team received a point for the card that was correctly placed.
The winning team received a treat.

Note: Only one card could be turned over at a time and the next card
could not be turned over till the walker returned to the table and sat
down.

The students seemed to enjoy it and the teacher gave positive comments
regarding the game. Now she wants a treasure hunt where they find the
answer!

The questions included examples that the middle students could relate to
and I tried to use teachers and students names. For example:

Jane was reading an AR book when she came across the word antagonize.
She did not know what it meant so which resource would help her?

For his report Damon needed to know the measurements of the torch on the
Statue of Liberty. Which resource would help him?

Now for the responses I received:

One response sent me to Evan-Moor Education which sells a boxed set of
questions. I have not had a chance to check this out but the website is
http://www.evan-moor.com/index.asp

I also receive a few reference quizzes that others have used. If you
would like me to forward you a copy please let me know
