Brownsville Stories?

How are these Latin American literature?  All three authors are from the
U.S. and their books are set in the U.S.?  These authors may be Latinos
but they are American (U.S.) authors.  Shouldn't librarians know the
difference?

Sigh (at least no one suggest Don Quijote),
