The last 4 years, I have been a "teacher assigned librarian" in an elem. school. I will be graduating with my MLS next year, and have spent all of my 21 teaching years in an elem. school setting. I plan to switch to either jr. high or high school, and would also be very interested in knowing the good & the bad of being a librarian in both settings. I'm interested in the responses that you get. Alma Date: Wed, 9 Feb 2005 15:07:40 -0500 From: "Ruth S. Jones" <jonesrs@MAIL1.VCU.EDU> Subject: TARGET: Elementary, Middle, or Secondary - That is the Question! I am currently a student in the library endorsement program at Virginia Commonwealth University. After I am done with this post-baccalaureate certificate program, I will be certified in the state of Virginia to work as a school library media specialist K-12. My question is for school librarians who have worked in at least two different types of schools between elementary, middle, and high school. Which did you prefer working in and why? Maybe if you are not comfortable picking a preference, you could at least compare and contrast your experiences. Please respond to me offliest and I will compile a HIT later. TIA! Ruth S.
