Here is my problem with the article: "Up to now, librarians have taken the lead in developing information literacy standards and curriculums. There's a certain paradox in that, because a lot of people assumed that the digital age would require neither libraries nor librarians. But today, students have only limited contact with librarians, particularly because they do most of their online information-seeking at home or in the dorm. More important, leaving information literacy to librarians alone suggests a failure to understand the scope of the problem." Well duh, the librarians were the ones teaching students how to use the new medium. But wait isn't that one of the things we were trained to do? Teach users how to access various mediums and the best way to locate the information and evaluate the information found. Hey why can't information literacy be left to the librarians. Oh snap that would mean that the adminstration would need to hire more librarians. Librarians could take this article apart and explain to ther various school administrations why librarians are important. Sorry didn't mean to fall into a rant!
