Anyone know if the three numbers that scan in when you scan the ISBN,
that don't currently appear in the printed number in CIP or on the back
of the book, but appear at the beginning of the number when you scan the
back of the book, are the new three digits, or is this just a
coincidence and the three numbers are something else?

An issue we all may want to follow :
Since many school library struggle to maintain aging hardware and
software here is another issue we're going to be facing in the near
future. According to this article in Electric School News, There will
be
a phased-in change within the next two years to 13-digit International
Standard Book Numbers from the 10-digit format. This could cause
problems for school libraries using older versions of book-tracking
software.
