Here is a list of what I received. Hope I didn't leave any out! Claudette -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dog Island http://www.thedogisland.com/ from: Jeri Calcote District Library Media Specialist Poolville (TX) I.S.D. calcote@cox-internet.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A favorite of mine is about the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus. http://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus.html Found a list of them on google while looking for something else. http://directory.google.com/Top/Reference/Education/Instructional_Technology/Evaluation/Web_Site_Evaluation/Hoax_Sites/ Bob Koreis Librarian Federal Way High School Federal Way, WA rkoreis@fwps.org -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a few websites and activities I can share: 1. I have just the kind of activity you need posted on my web page. To get there, go to my library home page, scroll down towards the bottom of the page, & click on the link that says "LM_NET Documents to Share". Then look at the links under "Web Evaluation for Seniors". 2. This page has lots of info about evaluation. As you scroll through it you will find additional bogus sites: http://www.gananda.org/library/mshslibrary/wchorror.htm 3. Here is one of my favorite bogus sites: http://scnc.hps.k12.mi.us/~hwmedia/encyclopedia/ There are lots of choices to click on. I think the Civil War one is particularly funny. It can catch students who do not have a lot of knowledge of the civil war and/or who do not read carefully. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jacquie Henry, MLS Ruben A. Cirillo High School (GHS) Macedon, NY 14502 jhenry@gananda.org http://www.gananda.org/library/mshslibrary/indexgcl.htm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a page I put together last fall. The list of bogus sites that I use for practice is down toward the bottom. HTH, Cyndi http://www.usd308.com/hhslibrary/Web_Evaluation.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are some that I've used in the past. My favorite is the Mankato, Minnesota page. http://descy.50megs.com/mankato/Mankato.html Velcro crop problems (This is fun because so many of my students have bought into this as a true story.) http://home.inreach.com/kumbach/velcro.html http://www.coas.drexel.edu/humanities/faculty/thury/VELCRO.html Barbara Den Boer Library Media Specialist North Summit High School Coalville, UT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We a list of Web evaluation sites that should help: http://www.ecb.org/surf/evaluate.htm Peggy Peggy Garties Multimedia Analyst Wisconsin Educational Communications Board (608) 264-9759 pgarties@ecb.state.wi.us -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out my webpage - I have a section on web evaluation. http://www.stellys.sd63.bc.ca/library/WebographyWEBSITEEVALUATION.htm Hope this helps.
