But by waiting until you get some requests for fiction books about Buddhists, Muslims, or Jews, it implies that you currently don't have a balanced collection. Not all students request books on subjects that they are interested in. Many would rather turn to the public library than ask. Also, even though students may not request a certain book does not mean that they won't be interested in it or read it if they are exposed to it. All students should have access to books(fiction as well as non-fiction) incorporating various perspectives(religious, political, etc.) so that they can learn about opposing viewpoints as well as make decisions for themselves about their own beliefs...
