I am including my original posting along with the responses, so you can read
the question I originally posted on LM_Net:

One of my schools has an old Aver-key system to connect the PC to a TV. It
really works very poorly. I sure would appreciate knowing what others are
doing. Currently, the PC system I’m connected to does not have speakers. I
know I either need to buy one for the existing system or find something
completely different.

It is really difficult to use one of the “projector type” systems because
the library is in an extremely bright room that used to be a gym, so this is
not an option. A TV based system is my best bet.

I have been using some averkey systems and am not real pleased.  We do have
three TVs that have the VGA hookup on them and I bought cords to connect the
TV to the PC.  This works well but the TVs are really expensive.  The good
thing is that you don't have much to hook up so fewer cords and you can get
VGA cords in any length and not have to set the TV right next to the
computer.

I'm eager to see what others are doing!

We are using a product called TView.  It has very good Clarity, and is
fairly inexpensive, $127.  It uses the S-video Hook-up similar to the
Aver-key.

Some of the data projectors have high enough lumens that can be used in a
bright room.  May be expensive, but could work. Check with a company like
Master Audio Visual, Hoy Herrin, 800-256-2754 Not sure where you are
located, but he his very helpful with these matters.

Holly, Here at Atkinson County High School, we have been using computer
ready big screen TVs.  These TVs are mounted on the wall and are connected
to a computer.  Much better for us than Averkey.

You will have to have 2 cables attached from the PC to the TV.  One for
video and the other for sound to come from the TV..  We purchase our TVs
through a central purchasing agent. The cost of the TVs is $557.00 for a 27"
and I do not know how much the cables are because our Central office
Technologist orders them.

If you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
