I have worked in libraries in which I had 6 doors -- I blocked off most of
them..... Fire regulations will tell you what you can do..

My current library has only 2 main doors - as we are a hallway and every 41
minutes most the school troops through. I do have another door which goes to
the computer lab - but that is locked and I control it.

Subject: [LM_NET] TARGET - How Many Entrances?

Given the location of the entrances to
my library & media center, it would be better described
as a "commons".

I'm interested to learn
what is an average number of entrances for a school library.
Related to this question is the number of responsible
adults to monitor the students (and the entrances), and whether there is a
teacher/staff only entrance.  Any detail you'd like to describe is welcome;
ie, closing off an entrance that the architect put in,
retrofitting, etc.

Please send responses
for any school - elementary, middle, high school, or a
combination. I'll compile responses by type of school
in my report back to LM_NET.

Many thanks,
