[LM_NET] MID/SEC: Summer Reading Programs

Good morning!  This is a call for an immediate response.  We have a staff member in 
need of info by this afternoon.

We are planning a summer reading program.  Students are encouraged to read one of 5 
books and the first week back to school all 10, 11, and 12 grade Language Arts 
classes will incorporate some discussion, activity, lit circle related to the 
titles.  There is opposition to the program, concern that it is "illegal" to 
pressure students to read over the summer.  I simply need to know of other middle 
and high schools that have a summer reading program and whether it is voluntary or 
obligatory; include any details you think are relevant.
