Our middle school includes grades 6-8. I am looking for the best "gimmicks"
or "hooks" you use to get students into the library and interested enough to
select and checkout books primarily for pleasure reading. We have recently
reorganized all of our fiction into genres as a "gimmick" to promote the
fiction collection and have received a very positive response from our
students. We are planing a promotion next month of popular series of books
called "Bet You Can't Read Just One!" and giving out individual bags of potato
chips as part of the promotion. Please send me your best ideas and I will post
a hit of the responses. Gimmicks can include a great display idea, contest,
book club, display board, ANYTHING you have used that has worked with this age
group!
