I emailed the director of technology in one school district and they took care of
the problem and thanked me ---
I have just emailed some superintendents in some other school districts about email
being blocked --

I plan to call two superintendents after our spring break because believe it or not
--
my personal email account was blocked as spam!!!! I cannot wait to get to a supt.
or asst. supt. about these two school districts.
I will keep everyone posted.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for the HUGE outpouring of support with
my filtering problems. I received many many replies
both on and off the list. I have not yet sent personal
thank yous to all who helped but I plan to do so soon.
(My apologies in advance if I miss anyone.) We had a
fairly productive meeting Monday after school. The
assistant superintendent was there as was the director
of technology, my principal and three teacher's
association representatives. I was able to explain
what I believe to be the major problems with the
current situation. Everyone listened nicely. I believe
I really got their attention, though, when I passed
around the handouts I had prepared using many ideas
from members of this list. I think I really floored
our interim assistant superintendent (whom I had not
met) because I offered solutions in addition to
complaints. A study committee is being formed to
construct a board policy on staff use of technology.
This should shift some of the responsibility away from
the filters (I'm hoping.)
Also, in case I didn't explain previously, the person
doing the filtering and the e-mail reading is a
technician, not the technology director. The director
is going to reprimand the technician and direct him to
allow many more messages through the filter.
We will be meeting again in early April so I will
undoubtedly be asking this list for more help in the
future.
Thanks again for all of the help and support. It's so
nice to know I'm not alone!
