Hello to all you netters out there-- I am attempting to find a list of features and their meanings as they would have been known to Chaucer during the Middle Ages in the oh-so-scientific area of physiognomy. I know a few specifics and some general information, but I don't have a comprehensive list, or anything even remotely close to that. I have searched for quite some time on the internet and in various encyclopedias, and although I can find tons of information on physiognomy, most of it is about Asian face studies. If I can find a reference to Chaucer, most of the information in it is just as vague as the information I already have and will only explain a few points--for example, I have found countless explanations of the Wife of Bath's gap between her teeth. My brain is starting to turn to oatmeal and there are not any books available on this particular topic in the local libraries in my area. If you happen to know an English teacher in your school who could send me any information or if you have a fabulous find at your fingertips, I would love to get a copy. Please reply to me directly, as I get the digest option. Thank you for anything you can send my way!
