Thanks to all who responded! You guys are so great. I was only collecting responses for the Shrek I, but there are lots more possibilities for Shrek II. Below are the responses, minus names. Thanks again: I would love to see a hit...I've been using Shrek a lot lately for disucssions about fairy tales and fractured fairy tales! The films also use a lot of nursery rhymes... I can think of "The Gingerbread Man," "Three Blind Mice," and "The Muffin Man" off the top of my head. As far as fairy tales, we have The Three Pigs, Snow White, Cinderella and one Ugly Stepsister, Pinocchio, Puss in the Boots, Peter Pan (Captain Hook and TinkerBell show up, but I'm not sure about Pan himself), the Frog Prince, Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, Sleeping Beauty, Fairy Godmother... We made sure we did "Puss and Boots" which only one student already knew Well, I thought of the Gingerbread Man, Rapunzel in the tower, the Big Bad Wolf, Pinocchio, the three blind Mice, Beauty and the Beast. I found a nice lesson plan online, though, http://www.readwritethink.org/lessons/lesson_view.asp?id=810, which explores a lot of other stuff that Shrek parodies that I completely forgot, such as the Mission Impossible-type scene in Shrek 2, or Fiona singing with Mr. Bluebird in Shrek. ( The link to "additional satirical links" is under "instructional plan.) Wow, just today I did The Frog Prince and we talked about that in Shrek 2, since Fiona's father was a frog...what timing. Here are a few that I can think of off the top of my head ... Three Little Pigs Goldilocks and the three bears Gingerbread man Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Peter Pan (Tinkerbell) Repunzal (not sure of the spelling) Three Blind Mice Pinocchio Little Red Riding Hood Jack and the Beanstalk??? (not sure about this one) Marci Davis Media Specialist BHL Middle Athens, GA bluehilda@hotmail.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
