[LM_NET] decade or timeline resources

Two of our Social Studies teachers have created a new project where
students research decades (from the
194 0s through the 1990s) in Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and
North America (Canada and Mexico only).  They can include historical
events, pop culture, fashion etc.  --anything from their decade.   We
have several sets of decade books about the United States but nothing
like that for other countries/continents.  Do such books even exist?
We've been using timeline books, but I'd appreciate some suggestions for
really good ones if you have them, also.
