Is it a copyright violation to tape sections of a textbook for a student with an IEP if the student has a print copy of the textbook issued to them? Is it acceptable for a student to record a fiction book onto tape (or CD or into an iPOD shuffle) to use in literature circles if the student has a print copy of the book in his hands? If a library has a cassette of a book, can a CD be made if the cassette is archived and not circulated? I was at a technology convention recently where there was a demonstration of how iPods can be used with reading and some of these questions came up. I am getting different answers from varying sources. If you answer, could you give me the authoritative source for your answer-one that would hold up in court!!
