[LM_NET] Issue or Topic in Children's Literature

Hi,

I am looking for some ideas.  I am taking a literature class, and I writing a paper 
on the following:

I need to identify a topic or issue in children's literature, and critique it's 
treatment in selected children's literature.  An example would be how an event or 
issue in American history has been portrayed in novels, picture, information and 
textbooks.  Basically, I need to explore any social science or science issue and 
analyze how it's been portrayed in literature.   I also need to focus on a grade 
level.

Perhaps there is a curent issue?  Any suggestions on a topic would be greatly 
appreciated.
