Colleagues, I can't resist--although I do understand that this was a Target and I should not be answering to the whole group. While I LOVE Patty's principal for noticing that students are doing too much fill in the blank time wasting during literacy block, I wonder whether one Authentic Reading Activity kids could be encouraged to do is, ummm, READ. Better yet, visit the LMC, choose a book or article or website, and READ!! Is that maybe too radical, though? LOL! Best, Toni >I have a principal who has asked if I can create a list of >Authentic Reading Activites that students can be doing >while their teachers are doing guided reading groups. >She says she is seeing too much "fill in the blank" type >activites. I'll share any ideas I receive! Thanks! > >Patty Cejda Toni Buzzeo, MA, MLIS <mailto:tonibuzzeo@tonibuzzeo.com> Maine Library Media Specialist of the Year Emerita Maine Association of School Libraries Board Member Buxton, ME 04093 http://www.tonibuzzeo.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
