In response to requests, here is the hit for my target question. Not
sure if all of them are award-winners, but most were recommended
several times over. The excellent suggestion was made (which I
should have thought of myself) to use the "Book Sets, Series & State
Lists" option of Follett's Titlewave.

Thank you again for your help. What an excellent model of
professional comraderie this listserv is!

Cheers,
Beau

0. Math Curse - Scieszka (Started with this one, but wanted to
include it in the "hit list".

1. Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi

2. Sir Cumference and the Knights of the Round Table

3. Sir Cumference and the Sword in the Cone (I think that's the name)

4. What's Your Angle Pythagoras? American Association for the
Advancement Science
This award is published annually in Science Books & Film Magazine.
Those chosen reflect the best children's books in the field of
science from the previous year. Best Science Books - Children 2004

5. Demi's One Grain of Rice. (It is about expotential doubling.)
The Number Devil by Hans Magnus Enzensberger. More toward the older
end of the age range you requested for reading alone, could probably
be read to 4-5-6th graders. It was an ALA Best Book in 1999 - don't
know about other awards.
