Hi everyone,

Earlier this week I posted the following request. I received many great
suggestions; thanks to all who responded!

Last year we had a week-long celebration of Children's Book week. Every
day was something different:

Monday: Sock it to me. READ!-wear wild socks
Tuesday: Slip into a good book.-wear slippers (Children should wear
shoes and carry their slippers to school)
Wednesday: READ IT!-wear clothes with words on them
Thursday: Team up with a good book.-wear favorite sports/team clothes
Friday: Hats off to books-wear hats

We're CRAZY about books! (wear mixed up clothes - inside-out, backwards,
mismatched, ...)
Books take you PLACES! (wear shirts with names of places on them)
Readers are BRIGHT! (wear sunglasses)
We're RED-Hot readers! (wear red)
COUNT on reading! (wear clothes with numbers on them)
We'd be BLUE without books! (wear blue)

Monday (11/14): Reading Drill>>> Read for your D.E.A.R. LIFE
                            Time: 8:10 to 8:30 [We'll line the
halls like in an old-fashioned tornado drill and sit and read together]
Tuesday (11/15): Life without Books Would be Dark: A Day in the
Dungeon [a theme day with activities centered around our One Book, One
School title /Tale of Despereaux/ by Kate DiCamillo] We're going to
wear all black and turn out the lights to read by flashlight...
Wednesday (11/16): Books Shield Us>>> Design a coat of arms for your
favorite book Younger grades may decide to do a classroom shield together, etc.
Thursday (11/17): Read in Be-TWIN the Lines Dress like a friend day
                                    Matching day. . .

Friday (11/18): Reading Builds Your Spirit>>> School Spirit Shirts

Have you red a good book? Orange you
glad you have a good book? I am blue without a book. A good book makes me
feel sunny (yellow). The students seemed to like it.

How about "Hats off to reading?" and students could wear hats in the
building all day.

Hats off to good books! (wear hats)
Books Leave a Mark on your life (with bookmarks)
Jam Out with Books (books & music)
Rock on with Books(wear Rock group t-shirts)
Get BOOKS! (like the milk commercial)
Just Read! (like Nike Just do it)
Cuddle up with a good book (bring blankets for reading0
Books are Beary Good Fun (bring a stuffed bear)

Reading is "BEARY" fun!-Bring teddy bears, other stuffed animals.
Celebrate your freedom to read.-Wear red, white and blue.
Brighten your day. READ!-Wear sunglasses.
Wild about books/reading!-Wear clothes with animals on them.
