Thanks for the blog information! I did find one that was a perfect fit
for my needs; the first one listed:

me an e-mail whenever a comment/book review is posted, which I can
approve or not." Students do not have access to inappropriate blogs from
this site, either. Go to "Register", and then go to "NL Blogs Signup" to
create your blog.

their free web site service and it was very easy to use.  I haven't
tried their Blog service, but it looks easy too. Have fun!"

 

It's not a blog, but I think it's better for your purpose. I've done
book clubs using www.nicenet.org <http://www.nicenet.org/>  which gives
you a threaded discussion.  You can limit access to just your students,
and edit out inappropriate comments.

 

www.blog-city.com <http://www.blog-city.com/>   allows you to create a
free Blog site.
