I will be working with the fourth grade classes on paired text, that is, fiction and nonfiction books on the same topic. I was wondering if anyone had covered this topic previously and could offer some suggestions. Choosing the resources is not a problem but I would like some ideas on how to approach the topic. I want to begin with a fiction book and have the children generate some questions about the topic and then seek their answers in the nonfiction book. I am also looking for a generic writing assignment that will have the students use information from both texts to answer the question. Any ideas would be appreciated. I will post a hit if others are interested. Thanks!!!
