Hello All-- I've been a lurker and sometime poster to LM_NET for years, mostly in my student days when I had more time! I'm now part of a group at the University of North Carolina researching workforce issues in school librarianship. We're looking for an overall picture in the US mostly, but I'd love to hear from other countries as well. I'm surveying schools of librarianship, but I would love to have input from LM_NETters too, since you are the folks whom the job situation impacts directly. How is the job picture in your state or region? Does your state (or country) require an MLS for school librarians? How did you come to librarianship-- a) straight from undergraduate school b) having been a classroom teacher and sought something different c) from a public library d) other? please specify Anything else you might like to share? Please reply to me directly. Replies will be held confidential, and I'll post a HIT of the overall picture if I get enough information and if anyone wants. TIA!
