Here are suggestions for pictures to enrich high school social studies classes, per your request. 1. Pre-history pictures: In this story, "Mummies: Bodies Tell Tales," http://www.awesomestories.com/history/mummies/mummies_ch1.htm students can take a virtual journey back in time to the "Iron Age" and the "Copper Age," among others, where they will see incredibly well-preserved mummies, the clothes they wore and, in some instances, the tools/weapons they used. 2. 3500 BC - 500 BC Asia: Although not exactly Asia, this story about Hammurabi and his Law Code (written about 3,700 years ago) may be interesting: http://www.awesomestories.com/biography/hammurabi/code_hammurabi_ch1.htm (Students can even "write like a Babylonian" - using English-to-cuneiform.) 3. Although it's about 200 years later than your prescribed Asian dates, this story about Alexander the Great's conquests in Asia may also be interesting. It will take students to the places he journeyed (believed, by him and others, to be "the end of the world) and conquered. http://www.awesomestories.com/movies/alexander_great/alexander_great_ch1.htm The site is subscription-based but is free to all schools, libraries and educators. Asia. These will be used to enrich high school social studies classes. I am usually pretty good at this, but I am stumped. Suggestions, Please?
