In answer to Peter's question about the AASL experience, the best session I
attended was given by three professors from Oklahoma on multiple
intelligences in teaching and how that information can be used by school
librarians in collaboration with classroom teachers.

The professors gave us a Multiple Intelligences Survey and we scored
ourselves as to our personal learning style. This survey made me realize
that perhaps the reason I sometimes have difficulty with certain
administrators might have to do with how we perceive the world based on
personal learning style. (smile) In fact, this might make a great survey for
our entire staff to take! I already have my husband scheduled for the test.

The opening session by Coach Carter was invigorating. His high school
librarian was at the opening session and it was neat that Coach Carter
called her up to the stage and acknowledged her influence on his life. My
main reason for attending conference was to hear LeVar Burton. He feels like
a family friend as my children who are 26 and 23 grew up on a steady diet of
Reading Rainbow. While I was disappointed that LeVar Burton couldn't attend,
Coach Carter was a good replacement. I'm now motivated to watch the movie.

The closing session was disappointing because not one woman was included on
the panel. Surely there is at least one woman in library land who is eminent
enough to expound on school library service in the 21st century.
