Dear Members,

Thanks for your help in compiling a list of cumulative stories. Several
people asked for a hit, so here are the responses I received:

Lots of folktales are cumulative: The Gingerbread Boy, The Old Woman
and Her Pig, and many others.

Not exactly sure what you mean by cummulative stories. But a WONDERFUL
story that includes musical instruments, in fact it was written in
orchestral form is Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. You can download from
iTunes David Bowie & THE Philadelphia Orchestra have a wonderful album
to download for $9.99. You can get the book through your regular
distributor or Amazon.com. cb

This is the house that jack built.

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.

Drummer Hoff is a good one.

"The Fat Cat" It's also good for beginning storytelling; because of
the repetition it is easy to memorize.

Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain

I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly

I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie (this may not be the exact title;
author's last name is Jackson)

The House that Jack Built Nancy

Stella Louella's runaway book-Lisa Ernst

The Napping House by Audrey Wood

The Gingerbread Boy

How about Stella Louella's Runaway Book by Lisa Campbell Ernst?

Thanks again,

Diane
