In response to Melanie... Melanie asked:I'm wondering if authors of children's books and/or their publishers are,at times, directing their publications toward being considered as reinforcement of state standards. Are there instances of different forms of children's books for the same reason? ...In the 20 years I've worked in children's trade publishing, I've never heard of authors or editors considering state standards when writing or editing books, and it never came up in marketing either. I've been freelancing at Holiday House of late and just went around and asked people here, and they've never seen these standards. Therefore, if you could tell me where to get them, I'm sure the marketing folks at some of the publishers I freelance for would be happy to see them. They probably won't do anything with them, but it could be interesting to see what they are.
