I'm not by any means an expert on education law, but I know that public school districts must provide a number of services to private school students living within their boundaries. Textbooks, transportation, speech and language services, health-related services, the opportunity to participate in sports, and more, may be the responsibility of the public schools. The exact requirements obviously vary from state to state and district to district, but they definitely exist. I found references (many!) on the web to districts that had to provide bus service to parochial school students and textbooks to private schools. I found an article from an Arizona paper about a state law which permits home-schooled students to compete on school teams.
