I agree 100% with Shonda!
I've always believed that staff development is one of our most important roles and
an area where we can really provide leadership. And, I agree that we can provide a
lot of good ideas.
That said, I also want to comment that our personal experience is that digital
camera instruction can be difficult. Too often people want to use the cameras but
don't want to learn all that is involved with using them successfully and as an
instructional or PR tool. Digital cameras are a wonderful tool, a wonderful
hook, and a wonderful way to work with people. I would never say no to someone who
asked for help. But, we need to proceed carefully, teaching people always to use
them, not do the work for them. And all the components are too often easily lost.
We've color coded every piece in our camera cases with colored dots and we check
the camera case when the item is checked out and when it's returned.
