Hello, everyone. I have a curiosity I wish satisfied. Is anyone out there in public
/ private / parochial school land using one of the many versions of Linux to run
your computers? If so, how did you get started and how's it going?

The reason I ask is my favorite IT tech and I have hooked up a six computer Linux
lab in my media center and we're running it off a small server he built. Now I've
never used Linux before, but the concept seems to be a scholastic budgeting dream.
Everything for free or very low cost. Imagine if you never had to pay $1200 for a
site license again. Could anyone use $1200 more in his or her book budget?

I'm just curious about the whole open source code realm in general. Call me crazy
(you're crazy) but I like the idea of OpenOffice Suite 2.0, which has every type of
program MS Office has, but costs not a dime. Unfortunately, my daddy raised me on
the principle that nothing is really free and if something seems to good to be
true, it probably is.

No flames please, just an honest question, and thanks in advance.
