[LM_NET] MID: famous women website

I need websites which list information about famous women in all subject
areas.  Specifically needed are sites that are searchable or indexed by
state and time period  or centuries/decades.  A class is coming in
Monday and I know this initial search will be frustrating without some
help.  So far I have not found what is needed and print resources that I
have searched are not indexed by state.  Is there such a resource?
