Hi Everyone, We are finding that shelving our many circulating books at the district Media Center Library has become very onerous. No one but the one and a half Library Techs, a few interested teachers, and myself have access to the 40,000+ collection, so we don't have a concern about students having difficulty finding particular titles. Here are my questions: Have any of you with large, non-student libraries, shelved your fiction and/or picture books by just the first three letters of the author's last name as it appears on the spine? Or, have you shelved by the author's full last name only, ignoring the first name? If you have used either of these methods, will you please let me know how it has worked for you? Thanks in advance.
