Susie's recent posting about Franki Sibberson and Mary Lee Hahn's blog, "A Year of Reading: Two Teachers Chat about Books and Reading" at http://readingyear.blogspot.com/ reminded me of some of my favorite librarians in literature. I've started a list (with thanks to Franki and Mary Lee for their wonderful idea) on my fledgling blog and am hoping that, as you discover (rediscover) some of your favorite (and possibly infamous?) librarians in children's and YA literature, that you might add to the list. Feel free to wander over to my blog at http://thebookdragon.blogspot.com/ Or drop me an e-mail. I've listed a few sites that have some good info on this topic, but I'm sure there are many more, and would love to know what the collective brain comes up with on this. Just as a starting point, one of my favorite librarians in lit is the one from Bud, Not Buddy, by Christopher Paul Curtis. I'm also fond of Madame Pince, the Hogwarts Librarian in the Harry Potter books (and would count her in with the "infamous" librarians). As always, this group is GREAT at providing food for thought--and it's making me get off my butt and learn more about adjusting my blasted blog! Ronda Y.
