I'm also thrilled with the Melvil Dewey puppet that Mimi's Motifs created.
It began as my request to Mimi at Mimi's Motifs (www.mimismotifs.com
<http://www.mimismotifs.com/> ) about a year ago. I had seen a lot of Mimi's
wonderful props and puppets at Judy Freeman's annual "Winners!" seminars.
So I thought if Mimi and her staff could design a fun Melvil Dewey puppet,
other librarians might want it also.

My request was inspired by another school librarian from New Jersey, I wish
I could give her credit but I don't remember her name or school. She showed
us her own puppet (made by a friend) at a workshop about teaching Dewey at
the 2004 or 2003 (?) annual conference of the New Jersey Association of
School Librarians or NJASL (formerly known as EMANJ). 

After I worked with Mimi about this idea, Judy Freeman came up with the idea
for the ten Dewey classes finger puppets.

Mimi has recently told me that each Melvil handcrafted "Designer" puppet
takes a lot of time to complete (so there may be a waiting list) and so she
is designing  a more simple cheaper model made commercially (rather than by
hand). Also she was considering having the Dewey class puppets available for
purchase separately if there was enough interest. So, Mimi needs to know if
you are interested (mimi@mimismotifs.com).
