Our teachers teach a brief Powerpoint unit and have the students create
a PP presentation. Our senior high students love it. We have a couple
of traveling LCD/Laptop carts that they reserve for the presentation of
student projects.
Our 10 grade English teachers allow the students choose the format for
their Teen Issues research project: Powerpoint, brochure, poster, or
term paper.
They also have to read a novel with the same theme as their project.
Another way to bring reading into the project. :)

A health teacher in my school is planning a unit on drugs. DUring the
unit, students will research different illegal drugs, including societal
impact.
For previous units (smoking, etc), the students have created skits,
posters, brochures, etc.
He's looking to have them do something different this time. Everything
I've seen (webquests, etc) have mentioned only the above.
Any suggestions?
